Trim Tip of the Month
All of Flannery’s aluminum trims come in a standard 10′ length. Be sure to use a carbide-tip blade to ensure a proper cut. Lubricant, such as WD-40, must be applied to the blade before each cut. Lubricant must be cleaned off of trim prior to installation. Follow these tips to ensure proper installation of our aluminum trims.

Happy New Year!
The new year is here, bringing new promises and hopes for the future. January gives us all a fresh start and motivation to make 2015 the best one yet. In the construction industry we can never be too sure what the year will bring, but research is predicting 2015 to be one of the best years the building industry has had in a while.

A leader in predicting construction trends, the Dodge Construction Outlook predicts U.S. construction for 2015 will have a 9% increase bringing it to $612 billion. The year’s growth will be due in part to the increase in financing for construction projects. According to Dodge, the largest sector for new construction will be commercial building and single family housing. The American General Contractor’s Association’s(AGC) recent findings on employment increases in construction supports Dodge’s predictions for substantial growth in 2015. According to the AGC, construction employment grew by 20,000 new employees in the month of November, reaching the highest total of construction employment since April 2009.

Aluminum Trends

The presence of aluminum building materials in the construction industry is greatly increasing. The aesthetic potential of aluminum opens up an infinite number of design capabilities such as interior wall finishes, light coves, window trims, and exterior siding systems.

The popularity of extruded aluminum building materials is due in part to it’s affordability and eco-friendly impact. Aluminum is easier to cut and form into molds than steel, thus reducing costs and lead time for the material. Aluminum is 100% recyclable and provides a high return value when recycled. The sustainability factor of aluminum alone is enough to make it the material of choice for architects and contractors.

Flannery uses extruded aluminum alloy 6063 T5 making it perfect for forming architectural shapes. Aluminum alloy 6063 is a heat treatable alloy, which allows for welding and creates high quality products that take extremely well to anodizing and color treatments. The durability and hardness of the alloy makes the material exceedingly resistant to external forces.

Flannery is proud to offer such an innovative and sustainable product. Our trims design capabilities will inspire you to create new and exciting projects with peace of mind.
