What does an Acoustical Ceiling Transition to Drywall trim do?

Flannery’s Acoustical Ceiling Transition to Drywall (ACTD) allows for the transition from an upper suspended acoustical ceiling plane to a lower drywall ceiling plane.

Is an Acoustical Ceiling Transition to Drywall trim two pieces?

The Acoustical Ceiling Transition to Drywall comes as a two-piece trim where a Drywall Ceiling Trim Adapter (DCT) is hooked to a standard Acoustical Ceiling Cloud Transition (ACCT) trim in order to receive a layer of gypsum board. The Drywall Ceiling Trim Adapter can be utilized with either the upper or lower legs of the Transition trim depending on which plane is going to be drywall (see DCTA).

Trim Purpose

Flannery’s Acoustical Ceiling Pocket Edge is a “box” shaped, two-legged trim that attaches to an acoustical ceiling on one side and a vertical wall or window mullion on the other. The trim can allow for a roller shade or small light fixture to be semi-hidden from direct view depending on where it is located around the perimeter of the room.

Manufacturer’s Specification

Flannery’s Acoustical Ceiling Pocket Edge (ACPE) is an extruded aluminum product with a 6063 T5 alloy and a minimum .063” wall thickness. The ACPE trims are sold in 10’ lengths and come with Grid Clips and Trim Splices to ease their integration into the suspended ceiling system. Flannery stocks all Strata Trims in our Cloud White factory paint finish or Mill Finish for field painting. Flannery’s Cloud White paint is a factory applied Kynar finish. In addition to our standard finishes, Strata trims can also be ordered in any liquid or powder-coated paint finish. Custom paint orders can be quoted, and samples prepared for approval. Additional finishes include anodizing, polishing, brushing, and “wood-grain” applications. Flannery Trim is happy to provide you with any insight and the ability to read engineered drawings upon request on any of your custom radius jobs. Each Acoustical Ceiling Transition to Drywall comes with attachment clips and splices to ease its integration into the suspended ceiling system.

Installation Details

Attach the lower leg of the Acoustical Ceiling Pocket Edge to the acoustical ceiling grid using the provided Ceiling Grid Clips (CGC). Then attach the upper flange to the wall with the appropriate fasteners. All Strata Ceiling trims must be cut accurately and installed with tight, neat joints. Manufacturer recommends that a carbide tip blade along with blade lubricant be used when cutting any aluminum trim.
